WELCOME TO LEAH LACEY VIOLIN SCHOOL

Kia ora, my name is Leah Lacey. 

After completing my Trinity Guildhall grade 8 violin exam, I decided that music was something I wanted to pursue at a tertiary level. Within my degree, my specialist areas were Violin Performance and Human Performance Science at the University of Waikato. I have just started my masters in teaching and learning also through the University of Waikato. I have a love of teaching and a wide range of teaching experience in numerous education roles, including working within primary schools such as Tauranga Intermediate, and Saint Mary's Catholic school as a violin teacher, and a wide range of sport related teaching roles.

My lessons are always catered towards the needs and goals of the individual. During the first lesson, goals are established.  My teaching style has been hugely influenced by that of Dr. Lara Hall (my own teacher from university), with the idea that in order to make beautiful, colorful sound, the body should always be free and in a relaxed, parasympathetic state. Much of my lessons involve exploration of posture and movement while playing.
